Flying into Punta Cana and out of Santo Domingo: plan both rides

The PUJ RIDE teamPublished

Landing in Punta Cana and flying home from Santo Domingo? Plan the airport rides as separate journeys: PUJ to your first accommodation, then your final accommodation to SDQ. If you change hotels along the way, add that move too. The address where you actually spend your last night is what determines the departure pickup—not automatically the hotel where your holiday began.

Start with the codes on your tickets

PUJ is Punta Cana International Airport. SDQ is Las Américas International Airport, serving Santo Domingo. Check those codes on the final itinerary for every traveler, together with the local dates and times. A city name in an email is not enough to identify the correct airport. If the airline changes the itinerary, check the airport again before updating your rides.

This guide is for a holiday between the two flights. A same-day connection from PUJ to SDQ needs a separate assessment of the actual flights, airport procedures and road journey. A published driving estimate does not establish a safe connection time.

Put every journey on one list

An illustrative plan looks like this: arrival at PUJ → Punta Cana accommodation; optional move to a specific hotel in Santo Domingo or near SDQ; final accommodation → SDQ. This is an example, not a package or quote. Without the hotel move, you may only need the arrival and departure journeys.

Give every leg its own date, pickup and destination. Use the full property name and address, including the correct entrance where needed. “Santo Domingo hotel” leaves too much open. Keep the hotel move and the later airport departure separate even if they happen on consecutive days.

Choose where to spend the last night

Staying in Punta Cana until departure day avoids another check-in and lets you finish the beach stay in one place. The trade-off is a longer road journey on the day you fly. Ask for a pickup plan based on your exact accommodation and flight. An early flight may make this less appealing, but the right choice depends on your itinerary.

Moving beforehand separates the longer relocation from departure day, but adds packing, another hotel and another transfer. A hotel in central Santo Domingo and one near SDQ are different pickup points; a city stay still needs an airport ride. Confirm room availability, check-in and luggage storage with the property. A transfer does not provide early room access, and neither option eliminates every possible delay.

Get a quote for the routes you will actually use

PUJ RIDE’s standard round-trip page describes PUJ → accommodation → PUJ. If your return flight leaves from SDQ, ask the team to confirm availability and the total for the different endpoints. Do not assume a standard round-trip discount applies. Have each leg and any agreed stops or waiting identified in writing.

The published PUJ-to-SDQ route starts at Punta Cana Airport. Its price and driving estimate are not automatically the quote for your resort, apartment or villa to SDQ. Confirm the actual pickup address, vehicle capacity, currency and luggage needs. Ask about any requested child seats and the charges for each relevant leg.

Work backward from your SDQ flight

Use your airline’s check-in and bag-drop instructions for the actual departure, then ask the provider to plan the pickup from your final accommodation. Share the flight’s local departure date and time, exact address and any access details. The road journey and allowance for delays need to fit that route, not a previous trip back to PUJ.

If you change your final-night accommodation, reconfirm the SDQ pickup address and timing. Make sure everyone in the group knows which airport the ride serves. “Airport transfer tomorrow” is easy to misread when two airport codes appear on the itinerary. Save the agreed details with your flight documents.

Send one clear request with all the legs

You can write: “We arrive at PUJ on [date], flight [number], at [local time], and need a ride to [full address]. We fly home from SDQ on [date], flight [number], at [local time]. Our final-night address is [address]. We also need [any hotel move, date and both addresses].”

Then add the passenger count, children’s ages, luggage and child-seat requests. Ask which journeys can be provided, the price for each and the proposed departure pickup time. If a booking form cannot clearly specify the different endpoints, contact the team before completing a standard return booking. A general question is not a confirmed reservation.

Keep changes attached to the right journey

A flight update or new hotel can affect one leg without changing the others. When messaging the team, identify the booking and say whether the change concerns the PUJ arrival, the hotel move or the SDQ departure. Send the new details and wait for confirmation of any revised arrangements or price.

Keep the flight, accommodation and transfer confirmations together, with a working contact for each provider. Changing an airline booking does not automatically update the transfer, and telling the driver a new hotel does not change the hotel reservation. A short, agreed journey list makes the whole trip easier to follow.

Before you confirm the rides

  • Check PUJ on the arrival ticket and SDQ on the departure ticket.
  • Save local flight dates, times and flight numbers for both legs.
  • List every full pickup and destination address, including any hotel move.
  • Choose the final-night accommodation and confirm its check-in arrangements.
  • Get the route, price, capacity, seats and any extras confirmed for each ride.
  • Agree the SDQ pickup using the actual flight and final accommodation.

Two airports, one clear itinerary.

Send PUJ RIDE both flights, your addresses and the group’s luggage and seat requirements. Ask the team to confirm the available journeys and their prices before completing the booking. If the form does not match your itinerary, get the different endpoints agreed directly.
